Conroy Stained Glass is undertaking a Victorian Door Panel Restoration in Alpine Road, Ventnor. The door was badly cracked and was held in place by the perspex. Fortunatley the stained painted elements were not compromised. The first stage was to remove the panels and board up the door. The owner plans to paint the door ready for the newly refurbished panels. The panels have been carefully taken apart and all the original glass has been cleaned and new blown glass has been matched to replace the broken panels. Once taken apart they wiill be completely releaded and 3 sets of strengthening bars will be added to ensure another 100 years of life. The painted stained glass centrepiece involves three firings of silver stain and paints to achieve the multi-tonal effect.
