Stained Glass Restoration in Cowes, Isle of Wight – Old Charlton House is a privately owned residential care home, registered with the Care Quality Commission for 32 elderly people, located in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. It is an elegant character house, situated in an elevated position on Baring Road with magnificent views of the Solent, and just a short walk to the seafront in Cowes. The Arts & Crafts house was built in 1903 with an amazing 6 panel stained glass window by its main front door. Unfortunately, time had taken its toll and the panels had bowed and glass had cracked and broken. The window had given much pleasure to the staff and clients in the Care Home. Conroy Stained Glass removed the six panels and restored the original metal frames. All the panels were taken apart and new hand-blown glass was used to replace the broken pieces and they were remade using new lead came to match the original. After 3 weeks off a boarded-up window the clients and staff were delighted to have their window back as good as new.
